For the second part of this unit, we did a coding task and used Arduino and I worked with Junaid:

Next, TAB came to the uni to introduce the new brief to us. Tab is a highly focused technology partner, created to help ambitious organisations build products that make the world work better.

They explained that new brief is to 'create an experience or experiences that support people living with and caring for those with dementia'. How might we enable those affected by dementia to make the most of life? How might we alleviate the feelings of isolation and fear that often accompany a dementia diagnosis? How might we reduce the need for expensive hospital care?

The way tab work is the following:

We began by familiarising ourselves with what dementia is and what it consists of. Dementia describes different brain disorders that trigger a loss of brain function. These conditions are all usually progressive and eventually severe.

We watched a video of an elderly woman living with dementia:

And we took notes on the daily struggles she faces, for example, can't remember which rooms are which because of doors. She paints colours around her light switches because she can't find them on the wall.

We also looked at products or services that are currently being used to help solve the problems they might face such as loneliness, loss of appetite, communication difficulties.
